Sogenre

The Sogenre project is an ANR project whose aim is to document precisely the processes through which gender inequalities are constructed from an early age.

While there have been changes in educational practices and norms, particularly in the area of gender equality, there is evidence that girls and boys are still being raised differently.

We hypothesise that from the first months of a child’s life, powerful gender socialisation processes are put in place in-depth sociological explorations. We study these processes as they are at work from birth, tracing them to the age of 3. To do this, we study family processes, focusing more particularly on the parent/child relationship, around two themes:

  • The body
  • The division of parental labour
